Swimming Skills, Seed Science and Super Subtraction in Year 3!

A hands-on week of maths, science and swimming success for our enthusiastic Year 3 class.
Year 3 have had a wonderfully busy week!
We enjoyed our final swimming lesson where the children learnt how to safely help a friend who is struggling in the water, using an inflatable ball under the chin to keep them afloat.
In maths, we’ve been mastering column subtraction with exchanging, using place value counters to help us see each step clearly.
In English, the children wrote brilliant recounts of our swimming trip, describing all the places we spotted on the journey.
We also became mini scientists in science, exploring the daffodils outside our classroom to discover how flowers make seeds and to identify the male and female parts of the plant.
A fantastic week of learning all round!

Year 5 have shown brilliant resilience and maturity this week, adapting to working in the hall while continuing to produce excellent work. From creative writing and scientific investigations to Joe Wicks workouts and exciting reading discussions, the class have impressed every day.
Year 6 have enjoyed a focused and productive week balancing SATs preparation with exciting learning across the curriculum. From researching Charles Darwin and designing websites to teamwork-filled rounders matches, the children have shown confidence, creativity and fantastic support for one another.
Year 1 have made a fantastic start to the Summer Term with church visits, creative English lessons and challenging maths puzzles. From learning about special celebrations with Father Tony to exploring The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch, the children have shown curiosity, confidence and determination.
Year 2 have made a fantastic start back to school with cricket sessions, creative photography and thoughtful discussions in RE. From batting and bowling to exploring different photo styles and multiplication challenges, the children have shown enthusiasm, teamwork and confidence all week.
Year 4 have had another fantastic week filled with creative writing, scientific discovery and local geography. From imagining dramatic endings to The Island of the Nine Whirlpools to exploring digestion and comparing Ventnor with Shanklin, the children have impressed with their enthusiasm and teamwork.
Year 5 have enjoyed another busy week exploring the Klondike Gold Rush, experimenting with solutions in science and reflecting on resilience. From adventurous writing to thoughtful discussions and Mother’s Day celebrations, the class have shown curiosity, kindness and fantastic teamwork throughout.
Year 6 have had a brilliant week exploring decimals, continuing Felix’s journey in Once, and celebrating World Book Day. From thoughtful discussions about bravery to creating calming worry stones and sharing stories with Reception, the class have shown kindness and curiosity.
Reception have returned from half term full of curiosity and excitement. From meeting a real guide dog and celebrating Chinese New Year, to solving number mysteries and learning about Ramadan, the children have enjoyed a fantastic week of discovery, kindness and fun.
Year 1 have had a brilliant half term full of creativity and confidence. From writing villain tales and using powerful adjectives, to partitioning numbers and building strong houses for the little pigs, the children have worked hard and shown fantastic progress across the curriculum.
Year 2 have enjoyed an inspiring week packed with visitors, teamwork and creativity. From learning about community responsibility with a police officer, to improving basketball skills, celebrating reading success and meeting a real author, the class have given their very best.
