From acting out Room on the Broom to hammering pumpkins and phonics scavenger hunts, Reception have been learning through play! They’ve explored body parts, planted pumpkin seeds, and even taken turns role-playing as the teacher during Adventure Time.

Reception had a fantastic visit from Emma at the Wildheart Sanctuary, where they met Steve the white-tailed eagle and even a chick! From comparing wingspans to learning about sharp talons and beaks, it was an exciting, hands-on experience with these incredible apex predators.

This term, we are beginning to learn how to write a sentence using our phonics!

This week, our focus story has been 'Whatever Next' which is all about Baby Bear rocketing to the Moon!

Before our visit to the Donkey Sanctuary, we looked at some pictures of working donkeys around the world.

Last week, Reception visited the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, finding out about some of the endangered animals.

We have been feeding The Shush (our creature who lives under the carpet) some delicious words and phrases!

Reception have been enjoying exploring seasonal pumpkins. One morning, we discovered some pumpkins, dots and a picture of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. We read a story about how she loves dots and has created lots of famous art work using dots!

Reception have had a fantastic start to the new academic year! The children have settled in quickly and have been busy making new friends and exploring their new classroom.
