A brilliant first week back filled with sport, creativity, maths and thoughtful learning experiences.
TL;DR:
- Took part in a Chance to Shine cricket session with Ash.
- Learned about digital photography and different photo styles.
- Practised multiplication involving groups with zero and one.
- Used money to explain parts of multiplication equations.
- Began exploring the meaning of remembering in RE and Shabbat.
What a positive and enthusiastic week we have had back in the Tanni Grey‑Thompson class!
The children have returned to school with fantastic attitudes and a real willingness to learn.
At the start of the week, we had the opportunity to take part in a Chance to Shine cricket session with Ash. The children had lots of fun learning how to bowl, bat and field, while developing their cricket skills and working together as a team. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they tried new skills and supported one another.
In computing, we started our new topic focusing on digital photography. The children learned about what can and cannot take photos and worked in groups to discuss and sort their ideas. We then explored different types of photographs, including action shots, close‑ups and landscape photos. The children shared thoughtful ideas and showed great curiosity during discussions. With iPad's the children went around trying to take the different photo styles. We shared at the end what we took and discussed what type of photo it was.
In maths, we have been building upon our multiplication skills. We focused on explaining and representing multiplication when a group contains zero or one items. Later in the week, the children identified and explained each part of a multiplication equation using money, helping them to describe the value of each coin within the equation.
In RE, we began our new topic, Remembering Shabbat. We first built upon the children’s understanding of what remembering means and why it is important. To help link this learning to their own lives, the children brought in memories to share and discuss, showing great thoughtfulness and respect as they listened to one another.
It has been a fantastic start back, and we are very proud of the enthusiasm and effort shown by the Tanni Grey‑Thompson class.
