Oceans, Fruit Dissections and Sports Day Fun!

A fantastic week of geography, hands-on science and sporting fun, topped off with a family picnic and ice cream.

To start our second week of Term 6, we have had a fantastic time with lots of exciting learning and activities to enjoy!
In Geography, we learned all about the five oceans of the world.
The children did brilliantly recalling where each ocean is located on a map. To deepen our understanding, we explored interesting facts about each ocean and even used a live satellite view on the big screen to see the oceans from space — it was amazing to see our world in real time!
In Science, we continued observing our bulbs that we placed in water with pebbles. The children carefully logged their observations, noticing how the roots have grown and measuring the shoots. They used great descriptive language to explain the changes they could see.
Later in the lesson, we built on our seed dispersal learning by making predictions about how many seeds different fruits might contain. We then dissected the fruits and had lots of fun discovering the seeds inside! The children discussed how each fruit’s seeds might be dispersed — thinking about wind, water, animals or self-dispersal — and explained their ideas confidently.
To end the week, we had a wonderful Sports Day. The children took part in a carousel of activities, showing great teamwork, determination and enthusiasm. In the afternoon, we were so pleased to welcome families for a lovely picnic, followed by the final races.
To top off a busy and exciting day, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved refreshing ice cream!
