New Tables, Tall Tales, and Training for Sports Day!

Exploring geometry, storytelling, and athletic skills as we kick off an action-packed Summer term.
Year 2 have had a great start to the Summer term.
We have had a change around in the classroom with the tables which allows us to do more collaborative group work.
In maths we have started our geometry unit, identifying and sorting polygons. We have also learned to count vertices and sides to help us with identifying them.
In English we have started a new writing unit learning how to write our own fable. We have read several creation stories from the book Tales from the Billabong and have also listened to Rudyard Kipling's Just So stories.
In PE we are starting our athletics and have been practising our running and jumping techniques ready for sports day.

This week, Mary Ellis Class flew high with fantastic attendance, extra playtime, and a flock of feathered friends for the Spirited Arts competition. From grammar work to creative collages, the children have had a week full of achievement and imagination!
Year 3 have kicked off the second half of summer term with imagination, energy and lots of learning. From mischievous characters in English to fraction fun with cake in Maths, it’s been a brilliant week full of questions, discoveries, and plenty of smiles.
From meeting Wilbur the pig in Charlotte’s Web to making rice dance during sound experiments, Year 4 have had a brilliant start to the half term. We’ve also been dreaming big about future careers—anything from astronauts to artists!
This half-term, Year 5 stepped through mysterious doors into enchanted gardens, ancient ruins, and futuristic worlds. From crafting vivid stories to unearthing dinosaur facts and testing friction, we’ve mixed science with storytelling — with a well-earned reward of woodland dens to top it all off!
After smashing their SATs with confidence and determination, Dina Asher-Smith Class enjoyed a well-earned week of creativity, sport and celebration. From Banksy-inspired art to rounders and a cinema trip, it’s been a perfect balance of learning and fun.
From acting out Bible stories to exploring odd and even numbers, Mary Ellis class have had a jam-packed week of discovery. They've sorted materials, investigated castles, written about animals, and zipped through athletics—all while learning what it means to be a good friend.
